It may surprise you to know monthly birthstones can vary
depending on the list you consult! Throughout history, various societies
or practices have developed their own birthstones. Those of Indian or
Tibetan descent may each adhere to their own cultures' birthstones. The
same is true of ancient or zodiac-based systems.
Most today go by the modern list, published by The
Jewelers of America:
